Thus the "Solstice Stitching Giveaway" was born. This is a fun one - lots of lovelies for embroiderers including:* A pair of Gingher Embroidery scissors *gasp!*
* A 5 inch embroidery hoop from a recent thrift store score (so it's the good kind with the better wood)
* Some Thread Heaven
* A skein of the infamous silver floss might as well put that Thread Heaven to the test, right?
* A skein of cool blue satin floss
* A skein of glow in the dark floss because, hey, it's DARK out there!
* A skein of icy blue and snow white variegated floss.
* Some other little surprises I cannot disclose (wink)
Just leave a comment for a chance to win. Feel free to use that opportunity to either curse or sing the praises of Winter.
I will ship anywhere - even to those lucky folks in the southern hemisphere. The winner will be chosen randomly on Monday the 21st (the Solstice of course) Good Luck!

Mmmm delicious stitching goodies.
I love winter. I recently moved to Pittsburgh from Virginia and am enjoying my first REAL winter in seven years! Bring on the snow!
wow...what a fabulous giveaway...please add me for the draw...thank you
Great giveaway! Thanks so much for hosting. I can't really complain about the winter here in NC ... though I might change my tune when I have to drive up to NY next week!
Great giveaway, I'd love a chance at it. Can't complain too much about the winter, it was pretty warm up until the first week of December.
Great giveaway. Thanks for the chance.
Ooooo, lovely give-a-way! And here's my bit for Winter:
Dear Winter,
While I love the bundling up in coziness and the chance of, no matter how slim, flurries- I only ask that you desist the constant raining on my woodpile so that I may burn a proper fire, in homage to you.
Ever so sincerely,
Marla
What a perfect winter give-away... The beautiful blues and silvers are a perfect reminder of the winter wonderland that will soon be here, I can't wait for my hot chocolate and peppermint schnapps!
pick me, pick me!! pretty please? i am hating winter and need something to take my mind off it. this would do the trick.
What a wonderful giveaway!
I love winter! The cold weather makes me so happy. :)
oh my! this is exciting! After reading your post about the siren song of silver, I ventured off into the land of the gold metallic floss...wow. Tough stuff, but so sparkly and pretty! I need me some thread heaven!!! And! I've been looking on Ebay for some Gingher stork embroidery scissors. Fun that you're giving them away! FINGERS CROSSED!!!
winter...hmmm...love to look at snow, don't love being cold and wet. And slipping on ice. How about if it just went away after the New Year?
Great giveaway! Thanks!
I'm not really big on winter, but we really don't get much of one in Florida. This year it's been deary and very rainy. Last week, we had lows in the 40s and highs close to 80. Soo weird. It's best to just stay inside and stitch. Thanks for the chance to enter!

What a lovely give-away !
Do not like this period, coldness, rain, wind... This surprise would make my day ;-)
Super duper giveaway. Your site is adorable! I'm fairly new to embroidery, I would love to give thread heaven a try!
Love the scissors! As for winter, I'm a mid-west gal with a penchant for lake effect snow. I really enjoy our winters (and my snowshoes are ready to go!)
OOOHHHH....my embroidery scissors landed point down on my hardwood floor and have never been the same. Perfect timing.
I wish we would get buckets of snow for Christmas and then a nice thaw!
I must admit, I'm wishing for Spring's warm weather. But that's no reason I can't enjoy doing some hand-sewing with these lovely winter colors.
Thanks for the opportunity to win these!
The best thing about winter is that the cold inspires me to stay inside and finish all the quilting projects I have going. :)
Wow, what a lovely giveaway! Please add me to be in with a chance! I do lots of stitching and would love some of that floss! Thank you
I miss winter terribly. My husband was just transfered for the military and we miss our snow.
Now that I live in the south -- I've come to enjoy winter much much more. I love the crispness in the air -- but I don't miss the stress of living in the north country.
I'd love a chance at this giveaway! Even though we don't see much snow here, I've been stitching some snowflakes - that floss would make some awesome snowflakes.
What a lovely prize!! Thank you for sharing it with us :)

What a wonderful giveaway! I'm in Australia and it will soon be summer solstice - I would love to receive this gorgeous pack of goodies!!
oh my goodness! this is one of the best giveaways i have seen in a while! those scissors alone are heaven:)
This is a great giveaway.
I love anything that celebrates the Solstice because I know after that the days will start getting longer, even though the weather will get colder. Something to look forward to.
I LOVE Winter! It means no bugs and cooler temps. The sunsets seem so much brighter against the snow.
LOVE all the goodies - THANK YOU for allowing a chance to win them!
Oooooohhhh....what a neat giveaway! I am so excited!
amazing giveaway!!!! you are so generous! my fingers are crossed now! have a great day!
Yay, giveaway!
Living in the south, winter isn't so bad, but we also don't get awesome snowy pictures. ... Thanks!!
You always present such pretty color combinations. Are you sure you want to part with those lovely gingher scissors? Those are a true luxury! :)
count me in!
btw, i'm loving the calendars i purchased from your shop, though i may not have them finished by chrismas. :(
i really dont care for winter. cold weather and chills are not my thing. but i do like the warm cozy blankets and craft projects i have time to do :D
Thank you for the chance!
Happy Holidays :D
awesome giveaway!
i love winter, i love snow, and i can't wait for the next few months of it!
I've always wanted to try Thread Heaven but just never got around to getting any. I love Winter because it means I can wear sweaters and maybe mittens & a hat (I live in So Calif). Thanks for having a great giveaway!
I'm love winter, but in this area the winter means not only snow... but ice. I must say, I'm not much of an ice fan!
Thanks for this opportunity. You are so kind. So far so good regarding winter here.
I love the stork scissors. I just got a pair the last time I found them on sale, and then somehow managed to lose them in the couch. No amount of hunting and digging will make them appear. Sniff.
thanks! love your blog!
What a generous giveaway! Personally I love winter, the pile of blankets necessary for sleep, the endless soups and stews, and bits of knitting here and there.

ooh, what a fun giveaway! perfect for stitching through the winter weather! xoxo
i love this giveaway! i like to embroider but i've never had a chance to work with silver or glow thread! just thinking about it is giving me some wonderful ideas! ;)
I love silver thread, but it is so hard to sew with! I used it for the numbers on my son's advent calendar. It is now six years old and the knots have come undone on a few of the numbers :(
I actually love winter as it gives me the chance to crack out my amazing collection of cardigans. I do love a good cardi.
Although, coming from the South West of England, pretty much bar about two weeks in August, it is always cardi weather!
Lovely giveaway, I never win any but this will not stop me entering!
What beautiful colours! glow in the dark, how interesting. Pick me, pick me :D
Silver thread is pretty crazy, and slightly annoying, but well worth the pains as it looks awesome in the end as it is ooh~ so shiny!
I don't mind winter but when your city [Edmonton, Alberta] is literally the coldest place on the planet [as of a couple days ago] and -10C [14F] feels "actually quite nice" then I am not a fan of winter.
I never would have thought to go to a thrift store for embroidering fun. Thanks for the idea!
Oooooh....what a lovely package! I've just gotten back into stitching again, and these look wonderful. (and the solstice happens to be my daughter's birthday. Yikes! Another teenage girl! *gasp*

I love this giveaway! I hope I win. Now winter........ That I'm no so thrilled about.
Hi. I come here for embroidery inspiration; you are amazing at it. So very creative. I am a beginner, but plugging along ok. :)
Winter in our home means the constant temperature fight. I turn it up, he turns it down...a nightly battle: sometimes funny, sometimes annoying. :)
I love the theme and colors of your giveaway. beautiful.
happy holidays.

What a beautiful giveaway! We are enjoying the lovely winter weather here in Buffalo, NY - couldn't imagine living without the seasons, good or bad!
Love your blog!
Yippee a giveaway!! Im new to embroidery and would LUV, LUV, LUV those scissors!!! I'm in Oklahoma...where it's cold and windy. Usually the ice storms dont start till around the first of January, so we have a few more good weeks ahead! Merry Christmas!!
Yikes! Thats very generous and Christmas-Spirity of you! I've also encountered the woes of sparkly floss! Happy Christmas!
great way to celebrate the solstice! I'm in.
Oooo, look at all the goodies! Someone is going to get a wonderful Solstice gift! *fingers crossed that it might be me*
I love nearly all things winter - the snow, the cold, the short days, getting cozy on the couch with a hot cup of tea and some crafting supplies. The only things I don't like are having to drive on slick roads, and the slush that develops every time we get a warm Chinook wind - we went from -20F to +50F this week and now all the pretty snow is a soupy mess, and our dirt street is even worse!
I love winter! Growing up and living in Minnesota, I have grown to appreciate snow. Especially since I have started doing embroidery, because when it is way too cold outside, I sit inside all warm and embroider! :)
Oooo.... I would so love to win that little gift pack! I've tried the silver thread and suffered and cursed along with you! You'll have to let us all know how the Thread Heaven works out.
What a great giveaway. Please add me to your drawing!
love, love, love this giveaway! i'd love to experiment with silver thread.
one of my favorites things about winter is visiting my parents in snowy new england.
thanks!
I would love to be a winner!
This is fantastic! I was looking for some glow in the dark thread just a couple of days ago, but couldn't find any! Now I just have to win!
Oh my gosh - how fun! Thanks for hosting this! I"m definitely linking back on my own blog. We have snow in the forecast for tomorrrow, perfect for a mug of hot cocoa and an embroidery project :)
I gotta say that Thread Heaven really is heaven sent. I make jewelry and use it for my Fireline thread all the time. It makes life so much easier!
Perfectly timed giveaway as I'm expecting a weekend of snow. Mmm, time to stich guilt free!
Wow! What a great giveaway! Snow is on the way to my house this weekend. At least the kids will enjoy!
Thanks!
I live in one of the snowiest places and while I love the snow, I absolutely hate the COLD! I try to keep myself occupied with my sewing and knitting.. can't wait to see who wins!
No complaining for winter here... I live in sunny Southern California! Winter simply means that I get to wear jeans and maybe, just maybe, a sweater with my flip flops :)
Such lovelies!
I'm throwing my hat in the ring. I am a southerner and I love the small amount of snow we get that melts the day it falls. Fantastic!
Winter in Louisiana has been bringing lots of yucky rain, but it's 55 and sunny today (at last!). Now it's time to buckle down and finish my 2010 mini calendars for gift giving. This is such a lovely giveaway!
I will praise winter if only for the relief from summer.
Awesome! Add my name to the drawing :)

Your blog is absolutely lovely. Very serene just like stitching embroidery by hand. That seems to quiet my mind. I wish I had more time for it. I've tried the silver thread, too. It can be very bothersome, but it's sooooo lovely.
