swap share again

Here I am bragging once again about the fun mail I receive on a regular basis now. This beauty arrived just today and I felt compelled to snap a photo to share right away. Fellow swapper, Beth stitched this one up and I think it's gorgeous. Don't you love that two-tone green stitch? I do! Thanks Beth - you are awesome!
I'm thinking maybe pillows for these. Maybe. They would no doubt look great but I would worry about their safety in a house with two little ones. I'm picturing a little boy being bopped in the head mercilessly by his brother who is weilding a beautiful, meticulously stitched pillow. Yes, I have to think about this a little more.
Have you heard about the Rainbow of Stitches contest over at Feeling Stitchy? My head is spinning a little as I dream up ideas for it. I hope to make a decision and get something entered in time. tick tock tick tock. We'll see.
I'll also take this opportunity to say, "any LOST fan(atic)s out there?" Boy, I can't wait to watch next week to see how Sun and Jin get out of that pickle they were in! Because they are getting out of it, right? ...right?... right? *sob*

I'm so glad you like it! And I thought Jennie's theme of monochromatic circles was perfect for the Feeling Stitchy contest -- I entered mine even though I didn't get a good photo!

I am a LOST fanatic, but we haven't watched this week's episode yet -- my only excuse is that I am sick so I've been going to bed early. EEK! I better catch up!

Sounds fun - how can I get involved with a stitching swap?

Sorry Beth - I hope I didn't spoil this week's episode of LOST for you! I should have posted a "spoiler alert"!

Elizabeth, this swap was through flickr and I have seen a few other ones posted there but I have heard about swaps on craftser http://www.craftster.org/ too. If I hear about any coming up I'll be sure to post about it. :) They are super fun!

Oh, yes, I needed some Kleenex during Lost, too...

I don't think that was really a spoiler. I haven't seen this episode yet, but I'm still looking forward to it. You didn't ruin it for me!

And I love Beth's green stiches! I'm a novice, so any advice on how to do that stitch to make it come out so nice and even? (does that stitch have a name? maybe I could google it...) The whole piece is beautifully done.

Don't worry, Corinne -- I don't think it's spoiled -- I'll watch tonight!

The closest stitch I can find to the green stitches is the Herringbone stitch (http://www.embroiderersguild.com/stitch/stitches/herringbone.html), although I do the points pretty close together. To get this two tone affect while keeping my stitches even, I used to needles. One was threaded in darker and the other lighter, and I switched back and forth. Maybe not the best way to do it?? Do what works for you!
