believe it or not

I actually made something! This seems ridiculously early, I know. To tell you the truth, though, it's quite late. I sketched this gal up last year hoping she would make it to the shop shelves for Holiday '09. Unfortunately I finished the sketches on about December 22nd so she got tossed in the discard pile for tardiness.
When I started thinking about ornaments for this year she came to mind again and I rescued her and stitched her up. Many teeny tiny appliques later and here she is!
I can't tell you how good it feels to get something done - even if it is only a 3 inch hoop's worth of stitching.

Sadly it doesn't seem early at all to me...maybe it's because I'm expecting my second soon and I know that I won't have much time for a while after that!
I LOVE that ornament. She's fantastic!

She's wonderful--I love her hair! And I'm trying to kick start my Christmas crafting, too (though, yes, it's hard to get in the mood in August), so this is a good inspiration, my dear!

I adore her! I must admit, I'm starting to think 'C' gifts already! I love the hoops you use. They seem to be a bit chunkier than the ones I've been buying. Can I ask where you buy them from? Lots of love, Amanda xxx

I'd like to know where you get your hoops, too! Also, when you appliqué, do you use a fusible product (such as Steam A Seam), or do you pin the fabric in place and then stitch it on?

She's cute! I love the variety of textures. The scarf reminds me of a loopy scarf that's on my "when I learn to knit" wish list :).

Wonderful! Love the background fabric and the scarf, especially.

Ditto on hoping this will be a pattern, and ditto on the hoop-origin question...

I too am starting to think about holiday making. I vow every year to have everything finished by December 22; we'll see if I can stick to it this year!

Wow, thanks everyone for all the nice words about this little gal. I have to admit, I'm not sure where this hoop came from for sure. I have a huge stash and they all have either come from Hancock Fabric Store or Consumer Crafts.com or Create for Less.com (probably that one - I get most of my hoops there).
I'm glad I'm not the only one dipping their toes in the holiday season crafting pool. I'm not ready to dive in just yet but testing the waters is exciting. :)
