that's my man

Do you know any men who would buy tickets to a concert so that his wife could see the very man she has a crush on sing love songs?
I do!
What can I say, I snagged a good one!

migration

*Well folks, here is the reason why I really can't seem to get anything done these days. We are getting ready to move!

All this came about very quickly about a month ago and we had to make some BIG decisions and we had to make them FAST. Me, I'm not so good at that. I will weigh pros and cons until the scale breaks if given a chance so let me just say, it's been a little stressful. But Vince is starting a new job and I think he will really like it and we will be starting a new life in a different city. I'm going to save our new location for a different post but I will say it's a good one!

Needless to say, this throws a pretty huge wrench into my crafting plans and I'm trying to deal with that as gracefully as possible. We have mountains of work to do before our house goes on the market and I have no choice but to focus my energy on that right now. By the way, anyone interested in a beautiful older home in an historic Omaha neighborhood? Lots of old world charm, it's a must see! (like that real estate lingo? think it will help me sell this house?)

So there's our big news. I'd say it's good news all wrapped up in a ball of worries and uncertainties. If we can just unravel it, it will all be just fine. Just hoping we won't find too many knots along the way.

get your stitch on

You all know about it don't you? The "Embroidereading" contest over at "Checkout Girl"? No, you say??
Oh my goodness, you must check it out and then jump in and participate! The deadline is September 1st so yes, you still have time to enter but no, you don't have time to dilly dally about. Need inspiration? Browse through the group page over at flickr. Now log off and go stitch I say!

*Please note that my flossbox is sometimes neater than this. But often messier.

I'll be back later this week with some big news that will explain some of my meager posts here lately as well as my lack of creative projects to share. It will all make sense, I promise.

day one

Off he goes. Peter started his 2nd grade adventure today. We always take a photo on the front porch on the first day of school. It's a little silly actually because the sun is always blasting up there and I always get a squinty face from him no matter which direction he faces. Could I maybe pick a better location? For some reason he insisted the monkey be in the shot and I thought that was cute so why not? He didn't seem too nervous (however he did clutch a stuffed animal for his photo so who knows). He always takes things in stride better than I ever have or probably ever will. I tend to be the one who gets butterflies in my stomach on his first days of a new school year. Even though I have my first free afternoon in months while Adam naps, I still miss Peter and cannot wait to hear about his day. 1 hour 45 minutes to go...

believe it or not

I actually made something! This seems ridiculously early, I know. To tell you the truth, though, it's quite late. I sketched this gal up last year hoping she would make it to the shop shelves for Holiday '09. Unfortunately I finished the sketches on about December 22nd so she got tossed in the discard pile for tardiness.
When I started thinking about ornaments for this year she came to mind again and I rescued her and stitched her up. Many teeny tiny appliques later and here she is!
I can't tell you how good it feels to get something done - even if it is only a 3 inch hoop's worth of stitching.

beauties and cuties

It's butterfly season in these parts. The zinnias are like butterfly magnets and we have been trying to capture each on that lands there in pixels before they flutter away.
These two were spotted last week. I'm always amazed at how close they let you get. Maybe they are just too busy to notice.
And check out these cuties from a favorite Etsy shop, Sparklepaw. They are all so clever and the images are priceless. Before you go card shopping at the drugstore or hallmark, stop by Sparklepaw and pick up a perfect greeting card from a great seller.
One of these days I may get something made as well! Summer is tough - definitely my least productive time of year but the one when I spend the most time with family. I do miss my creative time but am trying to be patient. Thanks for hanging in there during this dry spell!
